So, you've come seeking advice as to how to get started? Well, you've come to the right place! Here's what to do. The world of Dragonrealms is rather vast, which can confuse and discourage a lot of people at first, but don't be discouraged! Many an older player will be willing to help you out, if you ask. However, if you prefer the more independant method, I've got pretty much everything you need down right here. So now you're standing somewhere in the crossing, wearing only what you started with. Well, that's okay, since what you start with isn't exactly bad. First off, type DIR. It'll give you a list of directions to places that are rather useful to know. For example, if on the list, you see "Barbarian Guild," you can type DIR BARBARIAN GUILD or even just DIR BARB. Basically, what you should do now is pick a guild. Just take what appeals to you. The names are pretty much self-explanitory. However, feel free to step inside the guild and ask those within what life is like as a member of whatever guild you're in. There's a big difference between playing as an empath and playing as a barbarian. Well, once you have a guild staked out, you can raise your stats to suit the guild. Barbarians need a lot of strength and stamina, while moon mages need more wisdom and intelligence. Keep these things in mind when you're making those first few choices. And always remember, it's okay to mess up. This will quite likely not be the only character you ever make. You may decide you like one race or profession more than another later, so never be afraid to try new things. So now you're on your way to being a hero. Well, you gotta start somewhere, right? Go back outside and type DIR SHIPYARD. Make sure you've got a weapon, and head on your way. When you get there, you'll notice ship rats scurrying about the place. If you find an empty room, feel free to start playing exterminator. In order to attack, you must type ADVANCE [target]. For example, ADVANCE RAT. Once you're at melee range, hold the weapon in your right hand and type ATTACK. You'll swing at the thing, either missing or hitting. Keep in mind, it'll be trying its hardest to hit you, as well, so keep your guard up, and if things get ugly, feel free to type RETREAT until you're far away enough to leave the room. Now, if someone's already in the room, it's okay to politely ask to join in to the fray, but never saunter into other people's rooms and start killing what isn't yours. Remember, other people are your best source of help, and visiting the mentors when they speak is a very good idea (You'll get a message about a town crier running in and saying something, and then something about typing agree. It's a good idea to type AGREE, as you'll be instantly teleported to where the mentor is speaking, which is around the area where you started the game). Good luck! | |||||
