There are currently in DragonRealms. I hope their adventures are as big as mine...
So...you wanna get to tanning, eh?
Well the first thing you're gonna need is a skin, hide, or pelt. Adan'f scales work, but most other non-skin items won't.
So you've got your skin. Let's say it's a goblin skin (oohh...a tough guy, eh?). Well now, what do we do with this skin?
Step 1:Supplies
Head on over to the tannery. I'm not sure about other places, but the Crossing tannery contains a shop. Just go in and go west twice. In here, you must purchase the following...
Some tanner's shears
A hide scraper
A bottle of leather lotion (only works on skins and hides, will run out)
A bottle of pelt potion (works on pelts and other stuff, will also run out)
A bodkin (that's your sewing needle)
Some stout thread (will also run out eventually)
And last but not least, any patterns you may want to use.
By the way, before you buy your patterns, keep the following in mind. Only skins and hides make armor, but anything can make clothes.
All in all, it'll put you down about 2/3rds of a plat.
Step 2:Tanning
Now that you've got your tanning gear, get out your goblin skin, and your scraper. Hold the skin in the left hand, and the scraper in the right, and type "Scrape hide with scraper [careful],[normal],[quick]." As you can probably guess, the more carefully you do it, the longer it takes, but the higher the chances of success. Do it several times until you've either A, ruined your skin, or B, finished scraping.
Now, take your lovely cleaned goblin skin and whip out your leather lotion. Remember:NEVER USE PELT POTION ON SKINS OR HIDES! You will lose your skin or hide. And never use lotion on pelts, the same thing happens. Holding the lotion in your right hand, and the skin in your left, type "Pour lotion on skin (or whatever)." Do it over and over until it's finished, and stick it in your pack. You now have a long wait ahead of you. Feel free to hunt, forage, or move aroud while you're waiting...it'll be a while.
Step 3:Drawing and Stitching.
After a while, LOOK at your skin. If it's finished drying, take out your desired pattern. Then type, "Put pattern on skin." You'll trace whatever pattern you put on it onto the skin, and then you're ready to go. Whip out the shears, and type "Cut skin with shears." If your skin survives, it will either be pieces, or a set. If it's pieces, repeat the whole process with a new skin of the same type, then hold both pieces and type "Bundle pieces with pieces." Once you've got a set, take out the bodkin and type "Poke set with bodkin." You may have to repeat. Put your thread on your bodkin, and type "String set." Congradulations, you've successfully tanned a skin!
